A Hunk Of Pinky Minty Love

Hello there..

I have always loved pastel colors with pink being my fave of all time. However for reasons I can't phantom, the color minty green has caught my eye a number of times the past few days. It goes well with pink too! Check out these photos of food, decor and accessories that combine the two.

Nice right? What's your fave color combo?

How To Make Your Own BB Cream

Hello hello!

In this post I will be sharing with you on how to make your own BB Cream! I am so excited to be doing this post because it is affordable, customizable and it will match your skin tone. How great is that? Before I start however, let's have a brief look at what a BB Cream is.

BB Cream is basically an all-in-one product that provides face primer, coverage, sun protection, moisture and skin treatment in one nifty tube. It originated from Korea and have now gained a cult-status in the beauty world with major Western beauty companies developing their own versions. Asian BB Creams are normally of one shade only whereas Western BB Creams would have 3 basic shades of Fair/Light, Medium and Deep/Dark.

So now without further ado, let's get to the fun part of making it!

Items needed
1/2 teaspoon of long-wearing, full-coverage foundation in your shade.
1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen
1/4 teaspoon moisturizer
1/4 teaspoon of face primer
1/4 teaspoon of face serum (I used a whitening serum)(optional)
3 small drops of liquid highlighter (optional)
A mini spatula
A small jar/container

The products that I used.

Method
Step 1: Mix all the products mentioned above in the jar using the mini spatula.

Mix it...

Step 2: Test the shade on your skin to check the coverage. If you need more coverage then add a drop of foundation, mix and check again. Repeat until you are satisfied with the results.

..test it...

..and love it..

Note:
1. You can use any foundation you might have for making BB Cream. However I find that it is most effective to use long-wearing, full-coverage foundation because the intensity will be 'diluted' by the other products, making it light to medium coverage.

2. Mixing high SPF sunscreen will lighten the tone of your foundation.

3. If you are prone to skin sensitivity, please do a test patch on the inside of your arm (near the crook) and leave it for 6 hours before using it on your face.

4. Make in small batches at a time to reduce wastage in case it spoils before you get to use all of it.

See how easy it is? Boleh buat sambil baring2 lagi. The best part is, you can customize it to your liking. Want more sun protection? Add a little bit of sunscreen. Want sheerer coverage? Reduce the amount of foundation used. You get my drift.

So what are you waiting for? Give it a try today. If you do, don't forget to tell me about it in the comments section below.

Thanks for reading. Until the next post, cheers!

Lifestyle Change: How To Cook Convenience Foods In A Healthier Way

Hello there,

I am a firm believer that foods prepared from scratch are almost always more healthier than frozen, ready-made foods. However, I understand that with today's hectic life schedule we always tend to prioritize convenience over anything else. For example, it is easier to just throw store bought chicken nuggets into the fryer rather than washing and dicing fresh ingredients to cook a meal.

So are we doomed to be unhealthy by eating these foods? Not necessarily. Today, I will be sharing with you my way of cooking not-so-healthy convenience foods such as chicken drummets, nuggets, etc. in a healthier way which is by baking it. Among the benefits are:

1. You use much less oil compared to frying.

2. Drummets/nuggets cook evenly right through the center. *When frying, if the oil temperature is not right, your nuggets/drummets would either become soggy from absorbing too much oil or they burn on the outside but under cook on the inside*

3. No need to wait and keep an eagle eye on the frying food item while trying (unsuccessfully) to avoid lethal oil spatters. During the baking process, you can use the waiting time to do other things such as take a shower, load the laundry, etc.

4. No scars from unavoidable oil splatters.

Okay, okay. I could go on and on about the advantages of baking because I love this method so much. So, are you ready? Let's jump right into it!

Items needed
Oven *Duh*
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
Baking tray
Kitchen brush
Chicken drummets/nuggets

The best chicken drummets I've tried so far.

Items needed.

Method
Step 1: Pre-heat the oven at 250 degrees Celsius for 5 minutes.

Step 2: While oven is pre-heating, brush some oil all over the base of the baking tray. Arrange the drummets/nuggets on the oiled tray and brush some oil on them.

A health freak's nightmare. Lol.

Step 3:  Set the timer at 5 minutes at the same pre-heating temperature and put the tray into the oven. After the 5 minutes is over, reduce the temperature to 170 degrees Celsius and set the timer at 20 minutes.

Viola! Ready to serve.

So there you have it. Easy peasy right? Keep in mind though that freshly prepared food is always best for your health (as long as you don't douse your food in butter and salt that is) so try to minimize your consumption of convenience foods okay?

Thanks for reading this post. Until the next one, cheers!

On My Wish List: Redken's Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine

Hello there..

I was flipping through a magazine and came across an artcle featuring Redken's Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine. This product is part of Redken's new Diamond Oil Range and claims to work by penetrating the hair and nourishing as well as strengthening it. It also coats the hair's surface with a layer of oil, protecting it from damage and giving hair a wonderful shine.

While all this claims seem to mirror almost every hair serum/oil treatment out there, what really caught my attention is the fact that this product can be used 7 ways. Among them are as a pre-wash treatment, mixed into hair conditioner and hair mask to intensify treatment and, get this, used on dry skin (body) to moisturise.

Wouldn't it be super cool if those claims were true? I know, I am probably being nerdy about this but I have never personally heard of a hair product that could double up as a body care product before. This is definitely going into my wish list of products to try as soon as I am financially able.

Redken's Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine Intense for coarse hair.

Redken's Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine for fine to medium hair.

Redken's Diamond Oil Range.

Have you ever tried any products from Redken before? Do share in the comments section below.

Thanks for reading this post. Cheers!

My 27th Birthday Dinner..

Hello..

Just a brief update on my birthday dinner last night. Normally we would dine at Juta Hotel for special occasions but I decided to go to Pizza Hut for dinner.

As you can see, we ordered a LOT of food. Oleh kerana tamak haloba menguasai diri, there is no nice 'before' photo, only the messy 'after' photo. Hehe..

Ada baby kuwik idung.. Haha..

The only bummer is that there were sooooo many things unavailable from the menu. We had to change our order like 3 times at least. E.g. We ordered the daily special (main course) but that wasn't available. They have a dessert daily special and when we ordered that, the waitress said that the sundae will not have the wafer. So we changed the order to a single ice cream in strawberry flavor. At the last minute the waitress told us that only chocolate and vanilla flavor is available. Doesn't that make you want to scream? Booooo Pizza Hut Keningau! You need to be more efficient in updating your stock items.

Oh, but I met one of my best friends from highschool there whom I haven't seen in years. That part was good la aside from being with my family.

Have you celebrated your birthday this year? Tell me about it in the comments section below.

Thanks for reading. Cheers!

My Fears, Hopes And Dreams For My 27th Year

Hello hellooo...

If you're friends with me on Facebook, you would know that today is my birthday. 3 years left of my 20's. OMG, I can't believe it!

This birthday in the state I am in (jobless) makes me feel old. I mean, my other friends are practising law, medicine, almost completing their teaching bond and what not. They are climbing up the ladder in their field whereas I am still flailing, grateful if I could just have a job. If I was in this position 4 years ago when I was in my early 20's, I might not feel that bad but now it just sucks really.

I keep wondering, what is it that I am supposed to be doing? What am I meant to do? I know that I am not one to climb the corporate ladder as I can't stand the pressure or fake friendships. Numbers are okay but filing payment vouchers are the pits. I don't have the patience required to be a teacher. I love writing but someone told me that I couldn't write to save my life. Not that I believed her 100%. She is, after all just a withering b*tch who spits poison.

Oppss.. I still feel the resentment, yes. Sorry about that. I digress. Aaannyywaysss.. I hope with all my heart that my luck will change for the better in my 27th year and beyond. May I be in good health, discover my calling and rake in big bucks out of it. Last but not least, let me get married to a wonderful as well as compatible man and live happily ever after with my darling baby Sophia Mikhayla. Amin.

Happy birthday to meeee!!

Love,
Phy

Man Of Steel - A Movie Review

Helooo..

Among the most well-known characters of DC Comics, I feel that Superman gets the least exposure in terms of being made into a movie. Hence, I think everyone from the kiddies to their Nanas are pretty excited about the release of Man Of Steel recently. I myself was quite interested to see how they would spin his tale.

Man of Steel is a prequel to the Superman story we know and loved. It tells us where he came from, who his parents are, why he is sent to planet Earth, his life trying to fit in while growing up, etc. It kinda helps us get to know and understand as well as see more of his Clark Kent side.

Psst... This is not the letter 'S' for Superman..

After watching Man Of Steel for myself, I can understand why there are so many mixed reviews on it. Those who yell "Aye!" most probably do because of the spectacular graphics and the hunky-and-beautifully-hot Clark Kent. Cliche and cheesy scenes and lines typical of heroic movies are likely the reason why the other group roar "Nay!".

My verdict? I think that it is a pretty decent story. Granted the fight scenes made me think "OMG, if I was the Mayor I'd be suing their bottoms off with trillions and trillons of dollars worth of damage done to the city" and "Kasi salasai dulu tu karaja baru bersium bah, buduh" but I felt inspired by the lesson I took away from it. The lesson is that everyone has the ability to be successful. For some people, what they are meant to do just falls on their lap. For most we have to search for our calling, work hard grooming ourselves and when we are ready, we will take off and be unstoppable.

Superman in Man Of Steel. Obviously in this prequel, he has yet to discover his love for bright colors...

...and exposing his (red) underwear..

In a nutshell, Man Of Steel has awesome graphics, great storyline and life lessons to learn from. The cheesines is not too bad so go watch it!

Have you watched any good newly-release movies lately? Share your recommendations in the comments below.

Thanks for reading this post. See you in the next one. Cheers!

What's In My Travel Toiletry Bag

Hello there..

I have been traveling a lot for the past 2 years and as every woman can relate, my toiletry bag used to be big enough to rival my traveling clothes bag. No joke. The thing with us ladies is that we always think that it is better to bring more than less. We say, "Mana lah tau..." ("Just in case..") to justify what we bring when it is really just... Pure excess..

I am proud to say that I have managed to to downsize my toiletry bag considerably although I must admit that this change stemmed more from necessity than anything else. My tight travelling schedule required me to bring only the bare essentials so that I would save room in my carryall and not kill myself from lugging around 10kgs of things I do not need.

Come and take a peek into my travel toiletry bag...

My itsy bisty teeny weeny pinky toiletry bag...

All spread out..

Travel-sized skincare. I am currently using Hada Labo's Whitening range for the purposes of doing a review.

A disposable razor for any emergency shaving.

Mascara remover. Great for removing the most stubborn and resilient of mascaras. I also use a little to remove my eye liner. *I use baby wipes (which I keep in my handbag) to remove the rest of my makeup*

My sample-sized eye cream.

A dental cleaning product made from rock salt and herbs. This is a sample size.

A feminine wash sample.

Sample shampoo and conditioner.

My hand cream which I use in any other dry areas as well.

I also bring a mini comb and mirror, compact toothbrush and face cloth as you could see from the 2nd photo. All of them are included in the travelling toiletry bag as a set when I bought it. Cool huh? The mirror is a decent one too, not the el-cheapo kind that distort your image worse than a circus mirror.

Oh, I almost forgot! I have 2 other products that are not shown which are my travel-sized sun protection cream (Cyber Cells by Estee Lauder) and my Hada Labo whitening face wash. They missed the flight to the photo shoot I'm afraid. Hehe..

What is in your toiletry bag? Do you bring more toiletries than you need? Do share.

Thanks for reading this post. See you in the next one. Cheers!

Lifestyle Change: Good Intentions

Hello hello..

Last night before bed I had intended to start jogging again starting today. Then I woke up to find that my mum was already gone to her weekly 'Ladies Day' with her friends. Sophie pula sudah bagun. Jadi niat suci lagi murni beta untuk berlusir pun tuntas. Haha..

I guess I could jog in the evening but living here in the middle of the forest, I'd be a moving Happy Meal for the resident mozzies in the area. Pagi2 tiada nyamuk, best kalo mo workout. Last2 menari Poco2 dalam bilik jak la begini. Huahuahua.. Kedapatan..

By the way, in case any mums are reading this (or even doctors for that matter), I am hoping that I could get some insight into Sophie's latest habit. She used to be able to finish 9 ounces of milk everytime she feeds (even an hour after a meal). For the past 2 weeks however, she hasn't been finishing her milk. Mesti about 2 ounces or so tinggal and she would just chew on the teat. I know she is currently teething so could this be the cause? Any insight is highly appreciated.

Thanks for reading this post. Until the next one. Cheers!

Summer Makeup Trend: Candy Hues

Hellooo...

I have always loved wearing bright colored makeup whether it is on my lips or eyes. While I don't really wear makeup according to trends, I became pretty excited to see that according to Cleo Magazine Malaysia (June 2013) candy hued makeup is in.

I think when something you love becomes a trend, it just makes it a 100 times better. You can just go all out and not look out of place. I am already thinking of candy color combinations as I am typing this. Hehe..

Some of the bright coloured makeup items in my collection as well as the page from Cleo Magazine Malaysia June Issue.

What do you think of this trend?

Thanks for reading this post. Until the next one. Cheers!

Seventh Teeth...

Hello hello...

Sophie has been having on and off fever this past week as well as been a grumpy pot. I was a bit worried (ya lah ingat viral fever kah apa) until yesterday when I noticed something small and white on her lower gums. Turns out that it was her 7th teeth popping out. Odoi... Patutla the little kitten has been one sour puss lately.

Few days ago lagi she was exposed to her cousins who were unwell. Nah, hari ni betul2 demam, bukan lagi on and off. The extreme fluctuations in temperature is not helping matters either. So far she is not coughing and neither does she have a runny nose, Alhamdulillah. Lets hope that she gets better insyaAllah. Kesian bohgia si Sophie. Huhu...

Tolong doakan Sophie's speedy recovery okay? Thanks.

Lifestyle Change: Gebu Gebu Taipau

Hellooo,

I haven't done a Lifestyle Change post in weeks. I must say, I have been slacking off with the workouts, fruits-and-veges-everyday thingy. The weird thing is, I managed to maintain the weight that I lost and even lost a little bit more! Pelik kan?

Of course, I know that weight is not everything. How you fit into your clothes matters too. Well, my jeans fit just fine with a little room to spare. Cuma my upper body la rasa macam mengembang and my cheeks are definitely gebu gebu taipau (Pau is a Chinese steamed bun. Taipau is a large sized pau, about double the average one).

Is it possible that my fat cells have all done a 'Great Migration' like the animals on Animal Planet channel from my lower body to my upper body? Heran betul sy.

Anyways, there are still good habits that I retained. I eat less rice, whenever there are vegetables I would eat lots of it. I also would stop eating when I am full (Tapi menapau untuk makan kalau lapar tengah2 malam.. Huahuahua). My water intake is still between 1.5 litres - 3 litres a day. Breakfast tidak pernah miss.

Snacking la yg sy mo control balik sekarang ni especially the junk food. Need to dig deep again to look for my willpower.

Have you established any good eating habits lately? Until the next post. Cheers!

A Ghostly Disturbance

Hello there,

It's been a while since I have had a ghostly experience. Not that I had been looking for one. Minta simpang jauh2 okay. However, I did have an experience two nights ago when I was staying at a hotel near KK City.

After bathing and washing my face I left my toilettry bag on the rack in the bathroom. Skali a few minutes later I heard something fall. When I checked, it was my toilettery bag.

As I remembered it, there was just no way that my bag could have just fallen over on it's own because it was securely leaning against the wall and it wasn't top heavy or anything like that. The first thing that came into my head was "Jiji alert!" but I quickly brushed it off as being too paranoid.

The next night my sister told me that while she showered, she caught a whiff of a rose scent. It only disappeared after she put on her telekung to pray. Initially she thought that it was me using a rose-scented lotion.

Tau2 that same night Sophie kena kacau. She was sleeping when she started to cry non-stop. I recited the Al-Fatihah whereby she struggled and started to cry even more. I knew then and there that she had been disturbed by the unseen. To say that I was not scared for Sophie would be a lie. I prayed hard that she would not be possessed.

My sister played the Surah Yassin from her phone and Sophie almost immediately stoped crying. She fell asleep and woke up crying again within minutes. This cycle continued about 3 more times before she finally fell asleep peacefully. Totally tidak gundah sikit pun lagi tu.

My sister told me that before she went for a shower she noticed that Sophie had looked beyond my sister and started giggling, as if playing with someone. Yikes! We played Surah Yassin, Al-Baqarah and Al-Waqqiah until morning on repeat and there were no more such disturbances.

Lesson learned? Always be prepared for such situations when you are staying in a hotel or any other place aside from home, especially if you have a child. This is because ghosts (or in Islam we refer the unseen as 'jinn') tends to disturb those who are 'weaker in spirit' (children are not as strong as adults) so always have any defence you can use at hand. Takut bah budak kena kacau, nau'dzubillah minzalik.

So that was my utterly unwanted adventure during my stay in KK. Until the next post. Cheers!

Phy

Learning To Be Grateful

Helooo..

I am currently using my sister's Samsung phone. It's very basic but so far it's okay. My only gripe is that I can't upload photos on IG. I can still view, like and comment on other's photo though.

It's refreshing to be able to download a lot of apps without being alerted that my memory is full. Eventhough I don't have my ultimate dream phone that can give me everything that I want from software to hardware but at least I still have a smart phone that I can FB, Tweet and blog from. I am trully learning to be grateful with what I have, insyaAllah.

Thanks for reading this post. Enjoy your Sunday peeps. Cheers!

RIP HTC

Hello hello..

On Thursday my HTC phone finally broke on me after 2 years and 8 months of service. Part of me grieved, because that meant “Goodbye” to Instagram and Blogging on-the-go. At the same time I was relieved because OMG I AM SO BORED WITH THAT PHONE!! It had been acting up after the 1st year, always stating that it’s memory is full and I have to go and free up my data a hundred times so many times in a day in order to… Ah, I won’t bore you with the details. Let’s just say that there were days when I would feel like putting that phone in a blender and pulverizing it to bits. No joke.

Yang sedihnya tu, all this happened just as I am being really motivated about blogging. Kiranya sudah berkobar2 la niat mo jadi blogger yang berjaya ni. Sekali tingu, jadi gini pula. Aish! Sabar jakla.. It’s going to be more difficult to keep up with doing regular posts but I will try my darnest to make it work. I really hope that I will be able to be up there alongside all the well-known Malaysian and International bloggers out there in the near future. InsyaAllah, Amin..  ^^ *Amin bilang.. Capat!*

My, have I digressed. Anyways, back to my conked out phone. It’s so frustrating to me that I am unable to buy a new phone gara2 having no financial means to do so. If money is not an issue I would pick either one of these beauties:

Galaxy Note II in Ltd Edt Pink color. Cute kan?

iPad Mini 2 in White.. Mau yang 64Gig punya. Puas hati bergolek2..

Kalau ada orang kasih hadiah the above for my upcoming 27th birthday kan best.. Hint Hint Hint… At any rate, this incident has given Sophie a new toy.. Last time I would not let Sophie hold my HTC phone. Now it has become one of her 'toys'.

If money is no issue, what smart phone would you buy? Please share in the comments section below. See you in the next post people. Cheers!

Love,
Phy

P/S: I know that iPad is not a phone, it's just that kalau ada iPad, I don't mind having a not so high-tech phone.Boleh FB, Twitter, Whatsapp gitu okay la. Tapi, tapi, tapi kalau ada high-tech phone AND iPad sy laaaagiiii suka la.. Tamaha kah nda? Haha..

My Personal Makeup Project

Hello there..

I am a makeup lover and collector. Buying new makeup always gives me a fantastic rush.. Until my buyer’s remorse kick in that is. Since I have no moolah to spend on makeup nowadays (boo..), I went through my stash with the hopes of re-discovering my favorite products.

I managed to do that and more. It turns out I have quite a bit of products that are almost finished just sitting around. Enough to make a complete makeup set actually *Trying to be surprised. Pedahal.. Hehehe..*

Hence, I decided that if I can’t get my adrenaline rush through buying new makeup products, why not get it through using up all this pile of leftover makeup? Sudah lah boleh get rid of bask in the triumph of using it all up, I won’t have to face buyer’s remorse aaannndd I can make a blog post out of it lagi. Rupanya.. Hehe..

So here are my products:

Rimmel London foundation

 Revlon face primer

Mac concealer - My first and only concealer from Mac. Can't wait to finish this and add it to my Back To Mac items.

 Another Rimmel London product

Bobbi Brown lip gloss in Pink Blossom 31

Mascara by Maybelline - My ultimate go-to brand for mascaras

My poor broken Mac Superslick Liquid Eyeliner in Signature Blue

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in Zero (black)

Mac lipstick in Quiet One (Lustre) - My first lipstick from Mac and still one of my faves of all my lippy collection

The Body Shop Liquid Lip Color in no 16

The Body Shop Lightening Touch in shade 04

Kate Liquid Eyeliner in BK-1

Lip Smacker's Paul Frank lip balm in Clancy's Cotton Candy - Got this a few days before giving birth to Sophia. That's what I always remember when I see it.. ^^

As someone who gets bored of using the same products easily, I really hope that I could finish using at least some of them before feeling like throwing myself off a cliff. Oh! I almost forgot. I also would like to include 2 non-makeup products into this project.

One of my L'Occitane lotions - I swear this small bottle seem to be a bottomless pit to me. It doesn't seem to get A-N-Y less than what you see in this pic at all! I think it might be bewitched...

The Body Shop Vanilla Eau De Toilette - I love food type smells. I bought another of this as backup because TBS said that they were going to discontinue it.

Sooo... Yeah.. Those are my products and I am giving myself 6 weeks max to use up at least 5 products. If I don't give myself a time limit tahun depan pun belum tentu habis sebab procrastinate. Huhu..

Do you have any makeup products that you can't wait to use up? Please share in the comments below. Thank you for reading this entry. Cheers!

Phy
